About

I am sympathetic and communicative, flexible but determined and practical though visionary. Inevitably these features characterize my professional activities as well.

I love making science come alive: the originality and success of my work is evident not only in my publication record, but also from invitations to present plenary talks and lectures.

Working with students has always been an important aspect of my scientific career. Many students have carried on their Master and PhD thesis works on my experimental programs. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work, is to witness and encourage the unfolding of a young researcher’s potential.

My research approach provides on the one hand the opportunity of beginning with new and quite different projects and on the other hand with the determination to bring these projects to completion. I prize the development of detectors that advance the state-of-the-art as the way to reach beyond conventional measurements.
